Women move to 7-0 with rout of Warriors

ANCHORAGE – Jessica Madison scored 19 points and Kiki Robertson dished 10 assists Saturday as No. 7 Alaska Anchorage cruised to a 91-42 women's basketball victory over Stanislaus State at the Alaska Airlines Center.

The Seawolves (7-0) also got 16 points, five rebounds and a pair of blocks from senior forward Megan Mullings, more than doubling their opponent's scoring total for the fourth straight game.

The Warriors (1-1) were led by nine points and eight rebounds from reserve forward Cassidy Sanders-Curry as the visitors from Turlock, Calif., were outshot 43 percent to 26 percent, outrebounded 47-35, and forced into 36 turnovers.

UAA began the game with a 10-0 run and led 22-10 after the first quarter when Tara Thompson drained a short jumper before the buzzer. The Seawolves led 46-23 at halftime and extended their lead throughout the second half, with freshman center Hannah Wandersee chipping in 15 points, nine rebounds and two blocks.

Senior guard Jenna Buchanan made it four Seawolves in double figures with 11 points, senior wing Keiahnna Engel had eight points, 10 rebounds and four assists, and senior point guard Adriana Dent finished with nine points and five of UAA's 22 steals.

UAA takes off for Hawaii for its next three games, where it will start against 2015 NCAA Tournament qualifier Hawaii Pacific on Tuesday, Nov. 17. Tip-off in Honolulu is set for 5:30 p.m. Alaska Standard Time.
