ANCHORAGE – Junior guard Kendall Noble had posted 17 points, 12 rebounds and five assists Tuesday to power Western Kentucky to an 84-58 victory over George Mason in the first round of the women's GCI Great Alaska Shootout at the Alaska Airlines Center.
The Lady Toppers (2-1) also got 22 points, six rebounds and four assists from sophomore forward Tashia Brown as they shot 65.5 percent in the first half to pull away early.
The Patriots (1-4) were led by 14 points and four assists from senior guard Taylor Brown in their program's first-ever Shootout game.
Playing in its third Shootout, Western Kentucky advances to Wednesday's 5 p.m. AST title game against the winner of Tuesday's late contest between host Alaska Anchorage and Pepperdine. George Mason will play the UAA-Pepperdine loser at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the third-place contest.
