Boothe's triple-double lifts Toledo over SJSU

ANCHORAGE – Junior guard Jonathan Williams scored 26 points and senior center Nathan Boothe posted a triple-double Wednesday to lead Toledo to an 89-74 victory over San Jose State in the opening men's game of the GCI Great Alaska Shootout at the Alaska Airlines Center.

The Rockets (3-1) got 12 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists from Boothe, who added two blocks and did not commit a turnover in 32 minutes.

The Spartans (1-3) were led by 16 points apiece from forwards Frank Rogers and Ryan Welage.

With the victory, Toledo advances to Friday's 5:30 p.m. semifinal against the winner of tonight's late San Diego-Loyola Chicago matchup, while San Jose State will play the loser of that contest at noon Friday in the consolation semifinals.

Both teams are making their first GCI Shootout appearances in the 38-year-old tournament.
