BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The nationally-ranked No. 18 Bowling Green Falcons collected the Western Collegiate Hockey Association sweep with a 6-2 final score over the visiting Alaska Anchorage Seawolves Friday at the BGSU Ice Arena.

The Seawolves (9-12-3, 6-10-2 WCHA), who lost to the Falcons (15-7-5, 11-3-4 WCHA) by an identical 6-2 score on Thursday evening, were in the game at the halfway mark of the first until BGSU rallied off two power-play strikes for a 3-1 advantage after 20 minutes of play. The Falcons then added two goals in the second to UAA's one and the final dagger in the third.

With the sweep, BGSU takes over the No. 1 position in the WCHA for the time being as Minnesota State is currently playing and is one point below the Falcons. With in-state rival Alaska Fairbanks idle this weekend, the Seawolves remain tied for No. 8 with the Nanooks.

Scoring UAA's goals tonight were junior forward Brad Duwe and sophomore forward Anthony Conti. Following a shorthanded strike by Matt Pohlkamp at 6:57 of the first, Duwe collected his sixth of the season and second of the weekend at 8:01. Conti's even-strength tally came at 16:59 of the second, bringing the Seawolves within three goals. Additionally, junior defenseman Chase Van Allen picked up his second assist on the weekend.

Netminder Olivier Mantha made 31 saves in the loss and drops to 8-11-3 on the season, while Chris Nell (19 saves) improves to 11-4-5.

UAA was without senior captain Austin Sevalrud (hurt vs. LSSU) and freshman forward Jeremiah Luedtke (injured last night).

The Seawolves return home from the two-week road trip to host Alabama Huntsville, Jan. 29-30 at the Sullivan Arena.
