Weber State rallies past Aggies, 86-58

ANCHORAGE – Guard Jeremy Senglin totaled 20 points and five assists to help Weber State overcome a slow start and earn an 86-58 victory over UC Davis on Thursday night in the first round of the GCI Great Alaska Shootout at the Alaska Airlines Center.

The Wildcats (2-2) also got 21 points on 7-of-8 shooting – including 5 of 6 from long range – from reserve guard Dusty Baker to pull away in the second half. Weber State will play Iona in Friday's 8 p.m. AST semifinal in a game that will be shown tape-delayed on CBS Sports Network.

The Aggies (4-2) were led by 12 points on 4-of-4 shooting from freshman guard Joe Mooney and 11 points from fellow reserve Siler Schneider, but the Big West Conference club was outrebounded 36-23.

Weber State trailed 20-9 early but roared back behind a 55 percent overall shooting effort, which included 13-of-25 (.520) accuracy on treys. A 6-2 senior, Senglin shot 8 of 14 overall and 4 of 8 from long range, along with five rebounds. The Wildcats' starters outscored their Aggies' 47-25, with contributions from guard Cody John (12 pts, 4-7 FG, 2-3 3FG) and Kyndahl Hill (10 pts, 5-10 FG, 7 reb., 4 assists, 2 blocks).

UC Davis will play Drake (1-3) at 2 p.m. Friday in the consolation semifinals.
