Falcons shut out Seawolves, 3-0

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons handed the visiting Alaska Anchorage Seawolves a 3-0 loss Saturday in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association at the BGSU Ice Arena.

A night after forging a 3-3 tie against the Falcons, the Seawolves' were shut out for the third time of the season and fall to 1-11-2 overall and 0-5-1 in conference play. UAA allowed BGSU to score twice in the opening stanza and one in the second for a five-point weekend for the Falcons (7-7-2, 6-3-1 WCHA).

Scoring for the Falcons in the first were Tyler Spezia with the game-winning goal at 3:58 and Lukas Craggs at 6:53. Casey Linkenheld added the final strike at 6:07 of the second before the teams traded a fairly good amount of penalties in the third. Overall, both teams were tagged for nine penalties, serving 26 minutes in the box.

The Seawolves were kept to a season-love 11 shots on goal, while allowing the Falcons to hit netminder Olivier Mantha with 34 shots. Getting the shutout for BGSU was freshman Ryan Bednard – the first of his short career.

The Seawolves head back to Anchorage for a WCHA series vs. Northern Michigan, Dec. 2-3 at the Sullivan Arena.
