#2 Seawolves roll past Wolves for 14th straight

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Senior Jessica Madison had 15 points, six rebounds and five assists to pace the nationally 2nd-ranked Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team to a 77-42 victory over Western Oregon at the New P.E. Building on Saturday night.

Senior Megan Mullings and freshman Hannah Wandersee tallied 13 points apiece and combined for nine rebounds as the Seawolves (26-1, 13-1 GNAC) stretched their winning streak to 14 games and maintained a one-game lead over Western Washington in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference standings.

The Wolves (3-19, 2-12) got team-highs of eight points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals from center Emily Howey as they were held to 30 percent shooting and forced into 22 turnovers.

UAA led 4-2 after three and a half minutes before senior Keiahnna Engel hit a three-pointer to spark an 18-5 run over the rest of the first quarter. The Seawolves made it 38-13 by halftime and continued to increase the lead throughout the final two quarters.

Senior Jenna Buchanan finished with eight points and four assists, Engel had eight points and four rebounds, and senior guard Christina Davis collected five points, seven assists and no turnovers.

Mullings shot 6 of 7 from the field, doing all of her damage in just 19 minutes, while Madison shot 6 of 9 overall and 3 of 7 from long range. Madison's final trey moved her into second place – behind Buchanan – on UAA's career three-pointers list, surpassing the pre-2016 record of 191 by Allegra Stoetzel (1992-96).

The Seawolves return to the Alaska Airlines Center next week for another pair of GNAC games when they host Northwest Nazarene on Thursday (5:15 p.m.) and Central Washington on Saturday (2 p.m.). Call 907-786-1562 to purchase tickets or surf to GoSeawolves.com for more information.

NOTES: The victory extended UAA's program record for the longest win streak against any opponent, beating WOU for the 25th time in a row … UAA has won 13 straight in Monmouth … Buchanan went 2 of 4 from long range to push her school-record streak to 31 straight games with at least one trey … Madison moved into 8th place on UAA's career scoring list, now with 1,176 points … UAA's current 14-game win streak is the fourth-longest in program history and one shy of the third-longest.
