MARQUETTE, Mich. – With a 4-0 Wildcat win, Northern Michigan earned the Western Collegiate Hockey Association sweep over the visiting Alaska Anchorage Seawolves on Saturday at the Berry Events Center.
The Seawolves (5-16-5, 4-11-5 WCHA) failed to collect any league points in a league series for the first time since early November. With the six-point weekend, the Wildcats (7-17-4, 5-12-3 WCHA) caught the Seawolves in the conference standings. The teams are tied for ninth with 19 points.
Scoring for the Wildcats were Gerard Hanson at 8:34 and Shane Sooth at 18:36 of the first and Robbie Payne at 13:23 of the second. Scoring at 3:20 of the third was Troy Loggins.
UAA was without their bench boss for the second and third periods of play after Matt Thomas received a game ejection from the officials at the end of first period. Assistant coach Louis Mass took over at helm.
The Seawolves return to Alaska to enjoy their final bye weekend after a two-week trip in Michigan.
