Box Score FAIRBANKS, ALASKA – Alaska Fairbanks recorded its second straight win in the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup series with a 3-2 win over the Seawolves Saturday.
Austin Azurdia gave the Seawolves a 1-0 lead scoring on his own rebound at 4:19 of the first period. Jeremiah Luedtke assisted on the goal.
Ross Heidt tied it up for the Nanooks with a high wrist shot at 17:44 of the period.
Fairbanks took its first lead of the game at 17:51 of the second period after a goal by Zach Frye.
Colton Leiter extended the lead for UAF with his goal off the rebound at 7:37 of the third.
Jordan Xavier scored his third goal of the season at 10:11 thanks to assists from Austin Azurdia and Tad Kozun.
The Seawolves pulled Mantha, who finished with 34 saves, with 53 seconds remaining but could not score the game-tying goal.
The Nanooks finished with a 37-17 edge in shots.
Alaska Anchorage will take next week off before opening WCHA play at Lake Superior State Nov. 3.
