Box Score

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Junior center Brian Pearson tallied career highs of 16 points and eight rebounds Sunday but it was not enough as an undermanned Alaska Anchorage men's basketball team lost 82-50 to No. 16 Western Oregon the New P.E. Building.

With leading scorer, rebounder and shot blocker Jacob Lampkin sidelined with an injury, the Seawolves (6-5, 2-1 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) fell behind early and never threatened against the league's only nationally ranked team and No. 2 pick in the preseason coaches' poll.

The Wolves (10-1, 2-1) shot 66 percent from the field and grabbed 10 steals as Vince Boumann scored 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting and all-conference forward Tanner Omlid tallied 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting, plus five rebounds, three assists and three blocks.

Pearson, a 6-9, 230-pounder from Elko, Nev., was the Seawolves' bright spot as he started in Lampkin's place and shot 5 of 9 from the field and 6 of 6 at the foul stripe. Entering Sunday, his career highs were six points and five rebounds.

Senior guard D.J. Ursery shot 3 of 5 and tallied all seven of his points after halftime, while junior guard Malik Clements finished with seven points and four rebounds.

The Seawolves conclude their road trip and the 2017 calendar with a 2 p.m. AST contest Tuesday at Concordia-Portland. Live video and stats will be available at GNAC.tv.
