Box Score ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Alaska Anchorage scored twice in the third period to defeat Colorado College 4-3 and earn its first win of the season Sunday at Sullivan Arena.
Alex Berardinelli opened the scoring for the Tigers with a high wrist shot at 7:51 of the first frame.
Cam Amantea put the Seawolves on the board with a short-handed goal at 16:21 of the period. Nils Rygaard and Drayson Pears earned their first assists of the season on the goal.
Joe Sofo gave the Seawolves their first lead of the game at 6:32 of the second period. Tomi Hiekkavirta found Sofo in the slot who scored with a back-handed shot from the slot. Nicolas Erb-Ekholm also assisted on the goal.
The Tigers scored twice in the period after the Seawolves were whistled for 23 penalty minutes in the period.
Nick Holloran scored a power-play goal at 12:29, and Chris Wilkie added a second on the man-advantage at 15:05.
Nils Rygaard tied things up for the Seawolves with a slap shot at 7:38 of the third period with assists to Jordan Xavier and Drayson Pears.
Tomi Hiekkavirta netted the game-winner with a slapper from the blueline through traffic at 10:42 of the third period. Corey Renwick and Joe Sofo earned assists on the goal.
UAA goalie Brody Claeys earned his first career win making 29 saves.
CC outshot UAA 32-23, and finished 2-for-6 on the powerplay. UAA was scoreless on both of its chances on the powerplay, with one lasting a mere 27 seconds.
Alaska Anchorage will have the next two weekends off before opening WCHA play at Ferris State on Oct. 26.
