Hockey falls in overtime

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Anthony Nellis scored at 2:50 of overtime to give Lake Superior State a 3-2 win over Alaska Anchorage Friday.

William Riedell opened the scoring for the Lakers at 5:26 of the first period, and Hampus Erikkson extended the LSSU lead to 2-0 with a power-play goal at 12:59.

Jeremiah Luedtke scored his fourth goal of the season for UAA with just over one minute remaining in the first period. Mason Anderson fired a shot from the blueline that was redirected by Tad Kozun and Jeremiah Luedtke on its way to the goal.

After a scoreless second period, Alec Butcher tied the game with his sixth goal of the season at 10:00 of the third. Nicolas Erb-Ekholm and David Trinkberger each assisted on the goal.

Nellis scored the game-winner on 4-on-4 hockey after matching penalties by each team.

UAA outshot LSSU 33-25.

Olivier Mantha made 22 saves for UAA, and Nick Kossoff finished with 31 for LSSU.

Alaska Anchorage and Lake Superior will close out the season series Saturday.
