3-pointers sink Seawolves

TAIWAN – The University of Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team had three players score in double digits but it wasn't enough as they fell to Nagoya Gakuin University, 81-69, in the second game of their foreign tour in Taiwan.

Hannah Wandersee recorded a double-double for the second straight game tallying 16 points and 10 rebounds. Sydni Stallworth poured in 12 points, and Yazmeen Goo added 10.

UAA held a slim 21-18 lead after the first quarter, but NGU out-scored UAA 22-11 in the second to lead 40-32 at the half.  Nagoya Gakuin out-scored Alaska Anchorage 24-19 in the third, but the Seawolves led the fourth 18-17.

Number 15 for NGU scored a game-high 33 points, and Number 10 finished with 22.

Nagoya Gakuin used the deeper 3-point line to its advantage draining 10 from behind the arc compared to just two by Alaska Anchorage.

UAA dominated the glass out-rebounding NHU 46-30, including 25-10 on the offensive end.

Sala Langi led the Seawolves with a game-high 11 rebounds, including six offensive boards.

Alaska Anchorage will face Universite de Lyon Wednesday at 5 pm (Alaska time).
