Wandersee earns GNAC weekly honor again

PORTLAND, Ore. – Alaska Anchorage senior Hannah Wandersee was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week for women's basketball on Monday after leading the nationally 14th-ranked Seawolves to a pair of victories last week.

The 6-2 center averaged 18.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists as UAA earned an 81-70 win over Alaska Fairbanks on Tuesday and an 87-42 victory over defending West Region champion Montana State Billings on Thursday.

Against the Nanooks, she scored a game-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting – including 3 of 3 from long range – and tied her career high with five assists to help UAA stay perfect at the Alaska Airlines Center this year. The Kodiak native followed with 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting (3 of 4 three-pointers) and tied for game-high honors with eight rebounds as the Seawolves posted their most lopsided win in 62 all-time meetings against the Yellowjackets.

This marks the third GNAC weekly honor of Wandersee's career and her second this season (Nov. 19-25).

UAA (13-1, 5-1 GNAC) takes its six-game winning streak to Oregon this week to face Western Oregon on Thursday and Concordia-Portland on Saturday. Both games begin at 4:15 p.m. AST, with video and stats available at gnac.tv.
