Box Score HUNTSVILLE, ALA. – Nicolas Erb-Ekholm and Carmine Buono each scored for Alaska Anchorage in a 6-2 loss at Alabama-Huntsville Friday.
“I will take responsibility for this loss and effort,” said head coach Matt Curley. “I did a poor job on a short week and long travel in preparing our team for tonight's game and it showed in all facets. I know I will be better tomorrow and hope that our team is as well.”
Connor Wood scored first for the Chargers at 9:32 of the first period, but Nicolas Erb-Ekholm tied the game with a late period goal.
Erb-Ekholm scored glove side at 17:49 thanks to assists from Trey Degraaf and Aaron McPheters.
The Chargers scored three times in the second, including a power-play goal by Hans Gorowsky at 18:52.
Gorowsky assisted on UAH's first goal of the third period, also on the powerplay, and scored the final Huntsville goal on the powerplay at 9:38 to extend their lead to 6-1.
Carmine Buono scored through the five-hole for his second goal of the season with an assist from Tanner Schachle at 15:51 of the third period.
Huntsville finished 3-for-6 on the powerplay and held Anchorage scoreless on its only opportunity. UAH led 32-23 in shots.
Kris Carlson made 26 saves for UAA.
The two teams will close out the season series Saturday at noon.
