UAA collects two points against MTU

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Kristian Stead stopped 32 shots to lead the Alaska Anchorage hockey team to a 0-0 tie against Michigan Tech Saturday.

The shutout was the first of Stead's career.

The Seawolves earned a second point by winning the shootout.

Jake Lucchini scored for MTU in the first round, but Nicolas Erb-Ekholm kept UAA alive with a goal.

Stead stopped Jake Jackson in round two, and Jonah Renouf scored to give UAA the extra point.

Tech led 32-23 in shots.

UAA finished 0-for-4 on the man-advantage, but only one of the four powerplays went the full two minutes.

The Seawolves held the Huskies scoreless on their five powerplay attempts, only two of which were for the full two minutes.

Alaska Anchorage will have this weekend off before playing at rival Alaska Fairbanks Feb. 8-9 in the first of four Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup games.
