Hockey closes 2019 in Copper Country

Alaska Anchorage will close out 2019 with a road trip to Houghton, Michigan to battle Michigan Tech in two-game series.   

Series
Michigan Tech leads the all-time series with Alaska Anchorage 34-32-17 and leads 19-13-6 in Houghton. Alaska Anchorage's 32 wins against Michigan Tech are the second most against any WCHA member. Anchorage has 93 wins against in-state rival Alaska Fairbanks. 

Shootout Champions
The Seawolves have won both shootouts they have participated in this season. UAA has won the shootout the last five shootouts they have been in and are 6-3 all-time in WCHA shootouts. 

First Goals
Junior forward Zac Masson scored his first goal of the season in Friday's game against Ferris State. The Newmarket, Ontario, native has seven points (two goals, five assists) in 46 career games. 
Junior defenseman Eric Sinclair tallied his first goal of the season in Saturday's tie with Ferris State. The Kenora, Ontario, native has 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 81 career games. 
Senior Forward Corey ripped his first goal of the season against Ferris State last Saturday. The Nanoose Bay, British Columbia, native has six points (three goals, three assists) in 96 career games. 

First Helper
Junior forward Trey deGraaf, who is tied for the team lead with three goals, collected his first assist of the season against FSU last Saturday. The Red Deer, Alberta, native has 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) in 71 career games. 

Saturday Day Night Fever
UAA is 2-3-1 on Saturday nights and 0-5-2 on Friday nights this season. 

First Game
Freshman defenseman Dante Fantauzzi skated in his first game for UAA against Ferris State. 

Last Time Out
Ferris State won the first game 4-1 and the two teams skated to a 4-4 tie in game two. The Seawolves scored the extra point by winning the shootout.  

Looking Ahead
Alaska Anchorage will host Lake Superior State in a two-game series Jan. 4-5 to open 2020.
