Seawolves remain 8th in West Region rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – With just two matches left in the regular season, the Alaska Anchorage volleyball team remains in playoff position at No. 8 in the latest NCAA Division II West Region rankings, released Wednesday.

The Seawolves are one of five Great Northwest Athletic Conference teams among the top 10 in the West, along with No. 2 Western Washington, No. 4 Central Washington, No. 6 Simon Fraser and No. 9 Seattle Pacific.

California Collegiate Athletic Association regular-season champion and nationally 2nd-ranked Cal State San Bernardino  leads the way, with CCAA squads Cal Poly Pomona at No. 5 and Cal State Los Angeles at No. 7. Pac West Conference leader Chaminade sits No. 3, while Biola checks in at No. 10.

The GNAC and Pac West regular-season champions and CCAA Tournament champion receive automatic berths to the NCAA Tournament, along with the next five highest ranked teams at the conclusion of the season. This week's results will be added into the equation, and the national playoff field will be unveiled Monday at 3:30 p.m. AST on ncaa.com.

The Seawolves conclude with home matches against Western Oregon on Thursday and Saint Martin's on Saturday at the Alaska Airlines Center, both starting at 7 p.m. (TICKETS).

All attendees are required to wear masks.
