BACK AT IT: The Seawolves return to Div. II competition this week when they host Quincy and West Region rival Hawaii Hilo in the Seawolf Thanksgiving Classic this week at the Alaska Airlines Center ... UAA will be playing the visitors from Illinois for the first time, while they will try to avenge a 75-72 loss to UHH from Nov. 16 in Hilo.

SCOUTING REPORT: Following an opening 77-63 home loss to Findlay, Quincy has bounced back with three straight wins, including against fellow D-II foes Cedarville (88-77) and Purdue Northwest (81-70) ... located along the banks of the Mississippi River in Quincy, Ill., the Hawks play in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and are led by Malik Hardmon (19.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, .627 FG) and Jamaurie Coakley (10.5 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 4.3 apg, .810 FT) ... ranked No. 19 in the NABC poll, Hawaii Hilo had won its first four games prior to Wednesday's 72-66 loss to Lubbock Christian in Honolulu ... the Vulcans, from the Pacific West Conference, are led by 6-6 Fr. F Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones (17.8 ppg, 7.2 rpg, .516 FG, .840 FT and 6-1 Fr. G Donald McHenry (16.4 ppg, 3.6 rpg, .526 FG, .810 FT).
 
RED LIONS TAMED: The Seawolves played their first regular-season home games since Feb. 22, 2020, when they earned 83-53 and 106-44 victories over NAIA foe Lincoln Christian at the Alaska Airlines Center last week ... in the opener, Jr. G Tobin Karlberg tallied 19 points and UAA got 12 points and 10 assists from Sr. PG David Rowlands to pull away from the Red Lions in the second half ... on Saturday, Karlberg had 21 points (5-10 3FG) and UAA got double-doubles from Rowlands (14 pts/11 assts) and Sr. C Oggie Pantovic (13 pts/10 rebs) to produce the 12th-largest margin of victory in program history ... the Seawolves also got career highs of 10 points (3-4 3FG), 8 rebounds and 7 assists from Jr. F Keegan Crosby as their 18 treys tied for 11th-most in program history.
 
TEAM NOTES: UAA leads the early GNAC stats in scoring defense (64.3 ppg), scoring margin (+16.0), FG% defense (.388), 3FGs made per game (10.8), assists (18.2), A/T ratio (1.6) and rebound margin (+5.2) ... the Seawolves have recorded winning records in 14 of the last 15 seasons (the other was .500) and 35 of 43 seasons in program history ... UAA has produced a winning league record in 31 of their 39 years of conference membership, including 15 of 19 years in the GNAC ... the Seawolves reached 20 wins for the 17th time in program history in 2019-20.
 
'WOLF BITES: A First Team All-GNAC performer as a junior in 2019-20, Sr. F/C Oggie Pantovic has gotten off to a strong start, averaging 10.0 ppg and holding early league ranks of 2nd in rebounding (9.4 rpg), 9th in assists (3.0 apg), 5th in blocks (1.2 bpg) and 1st in defensive rebounding (7.0 drpg) ... the Preseason All-GNAC pick owns 10 career double-doubles and has posted double-figure scoring in 22 of his last 24 contests ... another Preseason All-GNAC pick, Jr. G Tobin Karlberg leads the team and ranks 4th in the early GNAC stats with 16.8 ppg ... the local Grace Christian HS star has scored double figures in all five games this year and 24 of his last 29 outings ... Karlberg's .444 career 3FG% currently sits 6th on UAA's all-time list ... Sr. F Hunter Sweet has seemingly improved the skills that made him an honorable mention All-GNAC selection as a junior at Concordia-Portland in 2019-20, scoring at least 9 points in each game, including a UAA season-high 30 points (11-21 FG, 4-7 3FG) at Hawaii Hilo ... the Portland native ranks 6th in scoring (16.2), 4th in rebounding (7.0), 11th in assists (2.8 apg) and 7th in minutes (34.0 mpg) in the GNAC stats ... Sr. PG David Rowlands posted back-to-back double-doubles against Lincoln Christian last week, taking over the current GNAC lead with 6.0 assists per game ... the Hawaii Pacific transfer also leads the Seawolves and ranks 10th in the league with 1.4 steals per game ... another Concordia-Portland transfer, So. G Caleb Larsen has displayed a sharp-shooting stroke thus far, scoring double figures in the last three games and ranking 2nd in the GNAC with .600 (12 of 20) 3FG shooting ... Jr. F Keegan Crosby has moved into the starting lineup and already surpassed his production from his sophomore season ... the Seattle native scored consecutive career highs of 7 and 10 points against Lincoln Christian, and he ranks 4th in the league with 6.4 rebounds per game, snagging at least 4 boards in each contest.
 
TRUST IN RUSTY: In his 17th season (18th year) at the helm, head coach Rusty Osborne (300-182) has now led the Seawolves to 15 straight seasons of .500-plus records, along with five NCAA Tournaments and a trip to the 2008 NCAA D-II Semifinals … the longest tenured coach in program history and in the GNAC, he became the first UAA basketball coach to reach 200 career victories when the Seawolves beat Alaska Fairbanks on Jan. 10, 2015 … Osborne captured his first career GNAC and NABC West District coach-of-the-year awards in 2008 after becoming the second coach to lead UAA to three consecutive NCAA berths (2006-08), and in 2011-12 his Seawolves posted a 24-10 record to equal the 2nd-most victories in program history; Osborne's 2007-08 club holds that record with a 29-6 mark … before taking over the head job in 2004-05, the Texas native previously served 13 seasons (1991-04) as a UAA assistant, including 11 years as the top assistant … the Seawolves have won over 60 percent of their games with Osborne on the staff, claiming four conference titles and eight trips to the NCAA Division II Tournament ... Osborne is assisted in Ryan Orton (7th season/8th year), Jalon McCullough (1st season) and volunteer assistant Ryan Engebretsen (1st season/2nd year).
