Pair of defensemen commit to Seawolves

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – University of Alaska Anchorage head hockey coach Matt Shasby announced the addition of two defensemen, Davis Goukler and Carson Kosobud, to the Seawolves roster.

Davis Goukler (6-1, 185 lbs., Cumming, Ga.)
Davis Goukler has played in 143 games over his four-year career with the Shreveport Mudbugs of the NAHL. He has scored seven goals and 35 assists for 42 points with the Mudbugs. Goukler led the Mudbugs to the 2021 Robertson Cup Championship recording two assists in 10 playoff games.

"Davis is a player that has worked very hard to get to the level he is at, and we are thrilled to have him be a big piece to our blueline," said head coach Matt Shasby. "He is a complete player that we will be able to use in all situations."

Carson Kosobud (6-0, 186 lbs., Moorhead, Minn.)
Carson Kosobud will join the Seawolves for the spring semester of 2022 after transferring from Arizona State where he appeared in 10 games. Kosobud played for several junior teams, Brookings Blizzard (NAHL), Des Moines Buccaneers (USHL), Central Illinois Flying Aces (USHL) and Penticton Vees (BCHL), before joining the Sun Devils. He appeared in 156 games scoring nine goals and 39 assists for 48 points during his junior career.

"Carson is our first defenseman out of the transfer portal who will bring college hockey experience to our blueline," said head coach Matt Shasby. "He is a great skater, great puck mover, and has an edge to his game. We are expecting him to play some quality minutes for us next year."
