ANCHORAGE – The University of Alaska Anchorage Athletic Department has announced that John Tinker will join the department as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.
"I am excited to announce the addition of coach John Tinker to our staff," said head strength and conditioning coach Ryan Walsh. "John joins us from Minnesota State - Moorhead with a strong background in a variety of sports that will have an immediate impact on our programs. He has his master's in kinesiology, and in addition to his experience & communication skills, has a depth of technical knowledge that will make him a great addition to our program."
Tinker comes to UAA after serving as the assistant strength and condition coach at Minnesota State University – Moorhead for the past three years. He was in-charge of creating and implementing the training program for eight of the Dragons Div. II athletic teams. Tinker managed the internship program and was responsible for budget and management of the fueling station. He also served as a professor of exercise science and a group fitness instructor at MSU-Moorhead.
"I am excited to be here at UAA and the new opportunities that will arise," said John Tinker. "I look forward to working with all the student-athletes and to help them accomplish their goals as student-athletes and future leaders in the world."
Tinker completed internships at Clemson University and the University of Dubuque. He received a bachelor's degree in Health, Wellness and Sport from the University of Dubuque and a master's degree in Kinesiology and Human Performance from Briar Cliff University. He has certifications from USA Weightlifting and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist.
