Mahala Kaapuni tied her career high with 10 kills but the Alaska Anchorage volleyball team could never hit its stride Friday as Chaminade earned a 25-22, 25-21, 25-19 sweep at Vulcan Gym.
The Seawolves (10-2) also got six kills and four block assists from senior middle blocker
Vera Pluharova as their six-match winning streak came to an end. The three-set loss was UAA's first since falling at via sweep at eventual national champion Cal State San Bernardino on Sept. 12, 2019, halting a sting of 35 matches without being swept.
The Silverswords (6-7) were led by 15 kills on .591 hitting from Rachel Reedy as the Honolulu squad outhit the Seawolves .379 to .253 and outdug them 36-23.
"We just never looked like ourselves from the beginning to the end of that match," said UAA head coach
Chris Green. "Credit to Chaminade. They took advantage of our mistakes and were the aggressors."
Just two hours after completing a draining five-set win over No. 25 Hawaii Hilo, the Seawolves led just once the entire match against the Silverswords, falling behind early and playing catchup throughout.

Ellen Floyd finished with 27 assists, two kills and two aces, while junior libero
Talia Leauanae led her team with eight digs.
The Seawolves will play rematches against Chaminade and Hawaii Hilo at noon and 9 p.m. Alaska Daylight Time on Saturday, before ending their spring campaign with a Sunday tilt against Hawaii Pacific at Vulcan Gym.
