ANCHORAGE – The University of Alaska Anchorage volleyball team will return to action as normal this fall, as head coach
Chris Green on Tuesday unveiled the Seawolves'
2021 schedule, including 14 appearances at the Alaska Airlines Center.
The Seawolves will open Aug. 21 with their traditional exhibition match against the UAA Alumni, which will be played in the Alaska Airlines Center's auxiliary gymnasium. The alumni match will not be open to spectators this year, but UAA Athletics does anticipate sending all season-ticket holders information on how to complete the purchase of season tickets for the full slate of regular-season home contests. Due to the rapidly changing conditions related to the coronavirus, public attendance protocols at UAA Athletics events this year, including volleyball, will continue to be monitored and updated as UAA, the NCAA and local and/or state health authority mandates and guidelines require.
After starting the regular season with four matches at Honolulu foes Hawaii Pacific and Chaminade, Aug. 27-29, UAA will return to the AAC's main gymnasium Sept. 2-4 for the Seawolf Volleyball Invitational, with matches against Biola, Texas A&M International, Indianapolis and Central Missouri on the slate.
UAA will play four more non-conference matches Sept. 9-11 in at the Nanook Classic in Fairbanks, before opening Great Northwest Athletic Conference play Sept. 16 at Saint Martin's.
The Seawolves will make their GNAC home debut Sept. 23 against Montana State Billings, with other big league matches including Oct. 7 against Central Washington, Oct. 16 against Alaska Fairbanks and Oct. 30 against Western Washington.
The regular season ends at home Nov. 20 against Saint Martin's, with the NCAA Div. II West Regional Championships set for Dec. 2-4 at a to-be-determined location. The NCAA Div. II Elite Eight is scheduled for Dec. 9-11 in Tampa, Fla.
