COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – Ben Almquist assisted on all three goals for Alaska Anchorage in a 5-3 loss at Air Force Friday.
Almquist's three points were the most by a Seawolf since Feb. 7, 2020 when Tanner Schachle and Luc Brown each recorded three points at Bowling Green.
The Falcons opened the game with three straight goals in the first period.
Air Force took advantage of its first powerplay of the game when Parker Brown lit the lamp at 2:47.
Brian Adams and Andrew DeCarlo scored at 9:26 and 10:34 to push the Air Force lead to 3-0.
The Seawolves rallied and scored two goals before intermission.
Caleb Hite scored with a backhander at 13:27, and William Gilson ripped a wrist shot at 16:35.
Derek Hamelin assisted on the Seawolves first goal to extend his points streak (six assists) to five games.
The Falcons scored the long goal in the second period, which featured six penalties, when Clayton Cosentino scored on a breakaway at 18:20.
The Seawolves pulled the goalie with just over three minutes remaining in the third period and were rewarded with a goal by Jamie Collins at 18:44. Caleb Hite collected an assist for his second point of the game.
Jacob Marti of Air Force concluded the scoring with an empty-net goal with 45 seconds remaining.
UAA finished 0-for-4 on the powerplay, and AFA was 1-for-7.
Joey Lamoreaux made 24 saves before being replaced by Nolan Kent, who finished with three saves, in the third period.
Alaska Anchorage and Air Force will close out the weekend series Saturday.
