PARK CITY, UTAH – University of Alaska Anchorage skier Leon Nikic earned his first career All-American honor at the NCAA Skiing National Championships Friday.
Nikic placed ninth in the slalom in a time of 1:54.77.
Didrik Nilsen finished 23rd (1:57.95).
Ashleigh Alexander led the Seawolves in the women's slalom finishing 17th (1:50.19).
Alyssa Hill was 20th (1:50.53).
"All-American honors for Leon is great," said head coach Sparky Anderson. "He put it all out there for sure. Didrik skied great. Two clean runs and helped us out with some important points. Ashleigh was ninth on the second run and cut her bib in half ending up 17th. Solid result for her. Alyssa was again challenging the line and had a couple of expensive mistakes. She's capable of top-ten in this field. Excited to have some young raw talent. This is not the last we've seen of her. Teams are pretty stacked in there going into tomorrow's racing. If we have a good day in the Nordic events we can jump ahead of some quality opponents."
UAA is currently ninth in the team standings.
Mathias Tefre of Vermont won the men's race in 1:53.69. Denver's Katie Hensien won the women's race in 1:45.40.
The NCAA Skiing National Championships will conclude with the freestyle races Saturday.
