Seawolves set to battle Nittany Lions

Alaska Anchorage will play at No. 14/15 Penn State in College Station, Penn., this Thursday and Friday. 

Series
Alaska Anchorage is 0-3-2 all-time against Penn State. The Nittany Lions won both the games (6-3, 3-1) against the Seawolves played in State College in 2016. 

Point Streak
Max Helgeson and Ben Almquist are each riding four-game point streaks. Helgeson, who leads the team in both goals (four) and points (seven), has scored three goals and three assists during his four-game point streak. Almquist, who ranks second on the team with six points, has scored two goals and three assists during his four-game point streak. 

Multi-Point Game
Three Seawolves recorded multi-point games in last week's loss to Air Force. Max Helgeson scored one goal and two assists, and Ben Almquist finished with two goals. Porter Schachle notched his first two assists of the season in the loss. 

First Points
Alaska Anchorage had five players record their first points of the season in last week's win over Air Force. Aiden Westin scored his first career goal at 6:37 of the first period. Carson Kosobud and Davis Goukler each assisted on the goal for their first points of the year. Riley Thompson and Connor Marritt each recorded their first points thanks to assists on Matt Allen's game-winning goal at 13:16 of the second period. 

Goaltending
Jared Whale has started five of six games this season (3-2-0) and has posted a .925 save percentage and a 2.16 goals against average. 

Score First
UAA has scored first in five of it's six games this season. 

Lead after Two
Alaska Anchorage is 3-1-0 when leading after two periods and 0-2-0 when trailing or tied after two. 

Conference Mixer
Alaska Anchorage is one of five independents in college hockey but will play schools from four of the six conferences and each of the other six independents. Alaska Anchorage will not face a member of the ECAC or the NCHC, but will play four games against Arizona State this season.  
 
Last Time Out
Alaska Anchorage split last weekend's home series against Air Force. The Seawolves won the first game 3-1 before dropping the second 4-3 in overtime. 

Looking Ahead
Alaska Anchorage will head north to battle in-state rival Alaska Fairbanks in the first two of six games of the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup Nov. 3-4.
