Seawolves drop No. 15 Nittany Lions

UNIVERSITY PARK, PENN. – Adam Tisdale scored two goals and one assist to lead Alaska Anchorage to a 6-5 win over No. 15 Penn State Friday.

The Seawolves improve to 4-4-0 on the year after earning a series split with the Nittany Lions.

PSU enjoyed an early lead after Jacques Bouquot scored off a furry of action in front of the net at 1:23.

Maximilion Helgeson tied the game with his team-leading fifth goal of the season on a break away at 4:01. He was assisted by Porter Schachle and Ben Almquist.

Helgeson and Almquist extended their point streaks to six games.

Danny Dzhaniyev scored at 8:31 for Penn State. But the lead didn't last long.

Adam Tisdale scored back-to-back goals at 10:17 and 14:06 to give the Seawolves their first lead of the night.

Matt Allen fired a shot top-shelf past PSU goalie Liam Souliere with five seconds remaining to give UAA a 4-2 lead heading into the lockerroom.

The Nittany Lions opened the second period with another early goal and tied the game at 4-4 with a short-handed goal by Reese Laubach at 4:39.

Connor Marritt scored his first goal of the season at 14:13 to put the Seawolves back on top before the second intermission.

Aiden Westin scored off a rebound 74 seconds into the third period to grow the UAA lead to 6-4. Westin assisted on two other UAA goals to finish with three points on the night.

Penn State played the final three minutes on the powerplay after Alaska Anchorage was whistled for a five-minute major for contact to the head.

PSU's Dylan Lugris scored the final goal of the game 6-on-4 with 12 seconds remaining.

Greg Orosz made 39 saves in his first career win in his first career start for the Seawolves.

Penn State out-shot Alaska Anchorage 44-24, including 20-4 over the final 20 minutes.

UAA finished 0-for-2 on the powerplay, while PSU was 1-for-5.

Alaska Anchorage will play the first two of six games against Alaska Fairbanks in the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup in Fairbanks Nov. 2-3.
