ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Brett Bamber scored the game-winning goal with four seconds remaining to lift Alaska Anchorage to a 3-2 win over Robert Morris Friday at the Avis Alaska Sports Complex.
Ben Almquist extended his point streak to nine games when he set up Max Helgeson for his team leading seventh goal of the season at 18:11 of the first period.
Matt Allen scored his fourth goal of the season by burying a loose puck in front of the net at 8:15 of the second period. Brett Bamber and Riley Thompson assisted on the power-play goal.
Gavin Gulash started the comeback for the Colonials with a breakaway goal at 17:24 of the second period.
Tanner Klimpke tied the game up with a goal for Robert Morris at 10:55 of the third period, before Bamber scored the game-winner.
Bamber finished with one goal and one assist for his first multi-point game this season.
Riley Thompson tallied two assists for seven points in his last four games.
"The first 20 minutes was our focus tonight," said head coach Matt Shasby. "After getting a 2-0 lead we should have closed out the game but a penalty late in the second period allowed them back in. I am happy we played right to the end, a full 60 minutes, and am just happy to get the win."
UAA outshot RMU 40-24.
The Seawolves finished 1-for-3 on the powerplay, while the Colonials were 1-for-5.
Jared Whale made 22 saves in his fourth win of the season.
Alaska Anchorage and Robert Morris will close out the weekend series Saturday at 4 pm.
