Ski team to host busy week of races

The University of Alaska Anchorage ski team will host several races around the greater Anchorage area Feb. 20-25th. 

Ainsley Proffit, Ashleigh Alexander and Alyssa Hill lead the Alpine women. Proffit posted a season-best finish of fourth in the slalom at the DU Invite and three top-10 finishes in the giant slalom this season. Alexander finished sixth and seventh in the giant slalom at the CU Invite and a season-best 19th in the slalom at the Westminster Invite. Hill opened the season with an 11th-place finish in the slalom at the Westminster Invite and a 14th-place finish in the giant slalom at the RMISA Qualifier. 

The UAA men's Alpine team is led by Leon Nikic, Jan Ronner and Hunter Eid. Nikic finished a season-best eighth in the slalom at the DU Invite and 13th in the giant slalom at the CU Invite. Ronner finished a season-best 15th in the slalom at the Westminster Invite and 22nd in the giant slalom at the RMISA Qualifier. Eid placed 19th in the slalom at the Westminster Invite and 19th in the giant slalom at the CU Invite. 

Astrid Stav, Tuva Bygrave and Pascale Paradis are sharing top honors on the women's Nordic team. Stav has finished in the top-10 in three out of four races this season, with a season-best fifth-place finish in the freestyle race at the Montana State Invite. Bygrave has collected four top-10 finishes this season, including a season-best fourth in the freestyle at the Montana State Invite. Paradis has competed in all eight races this season with a best finish of ninth in the freestyle at the CU Invite. 

The men's Nordic squad has relied on a mix of youth and experience this season. Magnus Noroey has notched three top-10 finishes this season with a season-best fifth in the freestyle at the DU Invite. Ari Endestad and Matt Seline have made an immediate impact in their seasons at UAA. Endestad has placed in the top-10 four times, including a season-best finish of seventh in the classic race at the MSU Invite. Seline finished a career-best 10th in the freestyle at the CU Invite.
