Rabb tabbed 1st Team, Newcomer of the Year

PORTLAND, Ore. (Mar. 1) – Alaska Anchorage junior Vishe' Rabb earned a pair of major honors and senior guard Jahnna Hajdukovich was also recognized Wednesday as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced its 2022-23 women's basketball postseason awards.

A 5-9 forward, Rabb was voted First Team All-GNAC and the league's Newcomer of the Year in balloting by the league's 10 head coaches. The Augustana (S.D.) transfer leads the Seawolves (18-9, 10-8 GNAC) with 16.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game, while her .873 free throw percentage currently ranks third-best on UAA's single-season list.

A two-time GNAC Player of the Week and the ASRC/Great Alaska Shootout Most Outstanding Player, Rabb has scored double figures all but four times and grabbed at least five rebounds in 22 of 25 contests, posting GNAC ranks of fifth in scoring, eighth in rebounding, fifth in steals and second in free throw percentage. The Springfield, Minn., native has been on a tear since Feb. 9, with four 25-plus scoring efforts in the last six games (23.8 ppg, 43-45 FT) and her third double-double in the win over Saint Martin's (25 pts/10 rebs).

Meanwhile, Hajdukovich was named honorable mention All-GNAC as the second-leading scorer (11.0 ppg) and third-leading rebounder for the Seawolves. The local Dimond High product holds GNAC ranks of 16th in scoring, eighth in three-pointers per game (2.0) and 13th in three-point percentage (.367), posting huge efforts in wins over Western Oregon and William Jewell. The second-generation Seawolf ranks 30th in scoring (813 pts), sixth in threes made (171), 12th in threes per game (1.4), 14th in 3FG% (.361), 11th in games played (121) and 11th in victories (100) on UAA career lists.

Rabb becomes the 10th Seawolf to be chosen GNAC Newcomer of the Year in the league's 21-year history, and the first since Autummn Williams in 2016-17.

UAA begins postseason play Thursday when it faces fifth-seeded Seattle Pacific (14-12, 9-9) in the GNAC Tournament quarterfinals at 6:30 p.m. AST in Bellingham, Wash. Surf to GoSeawolves.com for live links and GNACsports.com for complete tournament info.
