ANCHORAGE (Apr. 27) – The Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team has added its second junior college standout this week as head coach
Ryan McCarthy announced Thursday that
Senya Rabouin has signed a scholarship agreement with the Seawolves.
A 5-5 guard, Rabouin comes north after three collegiate seasons at Central Arizona College, where she averaged 15.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.9 steals in 65 career games, including the 2020-21 'Covid' season.
Rabouin earned First Team All-ACCAC honors last season, ranking second in the league with 16.3 points per game. The Phoenix native scored double figures in 23 of 26 games in 2022-23, including a career-high 45 points in a narrow loss to Eastern Arizona. As a freshman in 2021-22, she shot .415 from three-point range and .820 on free throws as the Vaqueras went 24-6 overall and finished runner-up in the ACCAC.
"Senya can flat out score, however that isn't all she is looking to do each game," said McCarthy, who has led UAA to winning seasons every year since his arrival in 2012-13. "She is a very skilled, well rounded player who has the ability to make tough shots and has excellent shooting range. What impresses me most about Senya is her toughness, which she displayed by scoring 45 against the top team in her region on a broken finger. I think she will have an immediate impact on our team and Seawolf fans are going to enjoy watching her for the next two years."
Rabouin was a two-time all-state selection by The
Arizona Republic as a prep star at Shadow Mountain High School. As a senior in 2020 she led her team to a 25-4 record and the 4A state semifinals, ranking eighth in the state with 20.4 points per game and seventh with 5.7 steals per contest.
Rabouin becomes the fourth member of UAA's 2023 recruiting class, joining recent signees
Ja'Niah Alexander (5-10, G, Rex, Ga./McDonough HS/Indian River State College),
Kya Pearson (5-7, G, Oakland, Calif./Oakland HS/Laney College) and
Erin Sellers (5-5, G, Oakland, Calif./Oakland Tech HS).
