Former Alaska prep stars Kroon, Scott join Seawolves

ANCHORAGE (Sept. 1) – With the 2023-24 academic calendar under way, the Alaska Anchorage men's basketball team has finalized its roster, as head coach Rusty Osborne announced the additions of former Alaska prep standouts Parker Kroon and Jaylin Scott.

"We are excited about the addition of both Parker and Jaylin," said Osborne, whose current roster now features seven Alaskans. "They both committed to us in the spring and have worked hard getting ready over the summer. With multiple upperclassmen at their positions, it was a perfect time for them to come in and redshirt as they transition to the college game."

A 6-2, 160-pound guard, Kroon was an AABC Second Team All-State performer as a senior last year at Wasilla High School. He also earned Northern Lights Conference Tournament MVP honors and was a First Team All-NLC selection in each of his final two seasons.

"Parker followed up a solid junior season with an outstanding senior season for Wasilla last year and brings the ability to score in multiple ways," Osborne added. "He plays hard, is fearless, and as he builds strength and confidence, he will have a chance to be an excellent collegiate player in future seasons."

A 6-5, 185-pound wing, Scott helped Ninilchik High School to consecutive ASAA 2A State titles and a combined 50-5 record in his final two prep campaigns. The Seldovia native was an AABC First Team All-State pick in 2023 as the Wolverines went 24-5 and were unbeaten against 2A competition for the second year in a row.

"Jaylin has all the physical tools of being a long, athletic wing, but needs to continue gaining experience," Osborne said. "This season will allow him to play daily against others with similar size and athletic ability. We are confident Jaylin will continue to blossom into an extremely versatile player, and be ready to step in once some of our upperclassmen graduate.

"Even though they will not play in games this season, we are confident both will make a huge contribution on a daily basis by pushing and competing against the others at their positions. These are two outstanding young men who will represent Seawolf Nation on the court, in the classroom and in the community in a first-class manner."
