Box Score FAIRBANKS, ALASKA – Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Fairbanks skated to a 2-2 tie in game five of the Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup Saturday.
After nearly two scoreless periods of play AJ Macauley scored for the Nanooks with 3:16 left in the second period.
Brett Bamber evened the score with a goal just 22 seconds into the third period. Ben Almquist and Matt Allen earned assists on the play.
Porter Schachle gave the Seawolves their first lead of the game with a power-play goal at 6:00 of the period.
The Nanooks appeared to score the game-tying goal three minutes later but the goal was taken away after a review for a contact to the head penalty prior to the goal.
Chase Defoe tied the game at 2-2 with a short-handed goal at 11:14 of the third period.
UAA finished 1-for-8 on the powerplay and held UAF scoreless on their two chances.
The Nanooks outshot the Seawolves 44-35.
Greg Orosz made 36 saves for UAA.
Alaska Anchorage will play at Providence Jan. 19-20.
