ANCHORAGE (Nov. 1) – Senior Emilia Long scored 21 points and broke the program record with 11 steals Friday as the Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team cruised to a 104-23 victory over Simpson University in its season opener at the Alaska Airlines Center.

The Seawolves also got career highs of 20 points and seven rebounds from junior guard Elaina Mack, along with 13 points, six rebounds and three steals from Preseason All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference senior center Tori Hollingshead.

The Red Hawks (0-2) were led by seven points from Haylee Sethman, but the NAIA visitors from Redding, Calif., were forced into 45 turnovers and outshot .438 to .240.

Mack did all of her damage in the first half to help UAA build a 60-20 advantage, and the Seawolves would hold the Red Hawks without a second-half field goal until 36 seconds remained in the game.

A transfer from Cal Poly Humboldt, Long broke the 26-year-old record of 10 steals by Stacie Cepin (Feb. 15, 1998 vs. The Master's), while shooting 9-of-14 from the floor and dishing six assists.

As a team, the Seawolves set or tied seven program records – including fewest points allowed and largest margin in a quarter (27-0 in the third) – and recorded seven additional top-10 single-game marks (see below).
