Bishop Tosi scored 15 points, but the Alaska Anchorage men's basketball team could not find its shooting range Friday in a 62-55 loss to Newberry at the Alaska Airlines Center.
The Seawolves (4-6) also got 11 points and four assists from junior guard
Tyler Burraston as they were outshot .537 to .300 by the visitors from South Carolina.
The Wolves (3-2) got a game-high 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting from forward Drake Downs as the South Atlantic Conference club overcame 24 turnovers with a 39-30 rebounding edge.
Meeting for the first time in any sport, each squad got off to a slow start offensively. Senior guard
Dillon Barrientos gave UAA its lone lead, 6-4, with a short jumper at the 13:13 mark of the first half, and the hosts would play catchup the rest of the night.
Burraston nailed back-to-back three-pointers to make it 20-20 with 2:34 left in the opening half, before Newberry grabbed a 26-25 advantage at the break.

Hasaan Herrington tallied consecutive baskets to keep UAA within 40-38 with 13 minutes left, but the Wolves answered with another surge to push their largest lead to 52-42 with six minutes to play.
The Seawolves continued to chip away as senior guard
Sean Evans sank two free throws for a 56-53 deficit with 1:13 left, only to see Downs slice down the lane for a dunk on the ensuing Newberry possession. The Wolves clinched the road victory 4-of-4 free-throw shooting in the final 20 seconds.
Evans finished with nine points, four rebounds, four assists and just one turnover in a team-high 32 minutes, while Herrington had six points, four rebounds and two assists.
UAA also got a lift from junior forward
John McFadden with four rebounds, two assists, no turnovers and a team season-high five steals.
The Seawolves and Wolves meet for a rematch at 5:15 p.m. Saturday at the Alaska Airlines Center.
