ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Brett Bamber scored his fourth goal of the season for Alaska Anchorage but it wasn't enough as they fell to Long Island 2-1 Saturday.
"I was dissatisfied with our effort tonight," said head coach Matt Shasby. "Jared Whale gave us a chance. We will be better tomorrow."
The Sharks sent a flurry of shots on net during their first powerplay opportunity before Isaiah Fox found the net at 12:31 of the first period.
Noah Kane sent a shot from the point but it was deflected to Josh Zary who scored his 17th goal of the season at 10:51 of the third period.
The Seawolves pulled goalie Jared Whale for the extra attacker with two minutes remaining. Brett Bamber scored with a shot through traffic with 45 seconds remaining.
Whale finished with 25 saves.
Brandon Perrone, who played in eight games for UAA during the 2019-20 season, made 21 saves for LIU.
LIU outshot UAA 27-22.
UAA was held scoreless on their three power-play chances, and LIU finished 1-for-3.
UAA and LIU will close out the series Sunday at 5 pm.
