"Another solid day for the women," said head coach Sparky Anderson. "Three in the top-12 and we're getting closer to where we want to be. The men continue to swim upstream, but they're a tenacious group. I love working with these guys. Leon was very close to another win, but straddled the last combo five gates from the finish. It happens. That's racing. It's why it's a beautifully punishing sport. We'll head home tomorrow and get back in the lab. We've got our focus dialed up. Can't wait for this next training block."
UAA had three men competing on the international stage in Plancia, Slovenia.
Derek Deuling (Canada) finished 24th in the freestyle sprint at the U23 World Championships.
Garrett Siever (Canada) finished 64th and Matt Seline (USA) was 67th in the freestyle sprints at the World Junior Championships.
Siever and Seline will compete in the 20K freestyle Thursday.
