ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Ben Almquist scored a hat trick to lead Alaska Anchorage to a 9-3 win over Stonehill Friday.
The nine goals were the most by Alaska Anchorage since they defeated Alabama Huntsville 10-1 on March 6, 1993.
"I was happy with the offensive side of the game, but defensively we were not very good," said head coach Matt Shasby. "Lots to clean up for tomorrow."
Almquist scored the first goal of the game at 5:21 of the first period and the last goal of the game at 16:57 of the third period, with his second goal coming at 5:48 of the second period.
UAA led 3-1 after the first period and 7-2 after the second period.
Riley Thompson scored two goals, included one short-handed, and one assist, and Maximilion Helgeson finished with three assists.
Karter McNarland and Porter Schachle each added two assists.
The Seawolves had eight more players record a single point in the contest.
UAA doubled up SC in shots 44-22, and both teams finished 0-for-4 on the powerplay.
Jared Whale finished with 19 saves for UAA.
Alaska Anchorage (13-16-2) and Stonehill (2-31-0) will close out the weekend series Saturday at 3 pm.
