Larssen Anderson had six kills on .455 hitting for Alaska Anchorage, but hot-hitting Simon Fraser could not be slowed Thursday, taking the Great Northwest Athletic Conference season opener 25-21, 25-11, 25-14 over the Seawolves at the SFU West Gym.
UAA (6-5, 0-1 GNAC) was paced by seven kills apiece from junior
Tia Allen and senior
Katie Birtcil-Tipton, along with 11 assists and nine digs from senior setter
Kadyn Osborne.
SFU (5-3, 1-0) was led by 17 kills on .429 hitting from senior rightside hitter Brooke Dexter and 14 kills on .458 hitting from outside hitter Davida Hill as they outhit the Seawolves .430 to .105 and won the digs battle 56-32.
Freshman setter
Hannah Trotter added 10 assists and two aces for UAA, which lost its first GNAC opener since 2010.
