Falcons edge Seawolves in Seattle, 64-60

SEATTLE (Jan. 23) – Bishop Tosi scored 13 points and Hasaan Herrington added 11 points and seven rebounds, but the Alaska Anchorage men's basketball team could not find its touch from long range Thursday, falling 64-60 to Seattle Pacific at Royal Brougham Pavilion.

The Seawolves (10-11, 3-5 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) also got nine points apiece from guards Sean Evans and Tyler Burraston, while junior forward Jesse Stines added seven points off the bench.

The Falcons (8-12, 4-4) were led by Mason Landdeck's game-high 19 points, along with 11 points apiece from Jonas La Tour and Owen Moriarity. Forward Jaxon Nap snagged a game-high 10 rebounds for the hosts, who won the rebounding battle 37-27.

On the road for the first time since Jan. 4, the Seawolves started strong with an 8-0 run, getting baskets from four different players in the first three-plus minutes. UAA extended its largest lead to 23-12 on consecutive baskets by Evans, but the Falcons chipped away, eking ahead 29-28 at halftime.

Herrington made two free throws to regain the lead 30 seconds into the second half, before La Tour answered to give SPU the advantage for good.

Freshman guard Parker Kroon swished a stepback jumper to keep UAA within 44-43 with 8:16 remaining, only to see Nap stretch his team's lead back to 53-46 on two free throws with 5:12 left.

Stines nailed a three-pointer and added a free throw at the 2:06 mark to draw within 58-56, and Tosi kept it a two-point deficit with a left-handed layup at the 52-second mark.

UAA could not get the defensive stop it needed, however, as Landdeck connected on a driving layup with 29 seconds showing. Herrington made two free throws with 10 seconds left before Moriarity sealed the game with two free throws for SPU.

Tosi shot 5 of 7 from the field, along with seven rebounds, four assists and no turnovers, while Herrington was 3 of 5 from the field at 5 of 5 at the foul stripe.

The Seawolves conclude their road trip Saturday with a noon AST tip against Montana State Billings. Find links to live video and stats at GoSeawolves.com.
