PARK CITY, UTAH – Ella Bromee led the University of Alaska Anchorage with a third-place finish in the slalom at the Utah Invite Monday.
Both of Ella Bromee's runs ranked fifth on the day and she finished third overall in 1:22.29.
Ainsley Proffit finished fourth in 1:22.51.
Ashleigh Alexander finished 10th (1:24.15), and Olivia Carrier was 14th (1:29.53).
Jan Ronner posted the fifth-fastest first run and would finish fourth overall with a time of 1:23.22.
Dylan Timm recorded the third-fastest second run to finish 13th overall in 1:24.30.
"We had a good day on an extremely tough SL hill," said head coach Sparky Anderson. "Steep, terrain changes, challenging course sets. Another podium for Ella as she continues to find speed. Ainsley put together two brilliant runs to finish fourth. So great to see. Ash and Olivia skied exceptionally well too. Unfortunately, Carmen got hung up in the final combo and didn't finish second run. Definitely needed to risk everything today. The boys certainly did. Jan was putting down what most would say was a winning run but got bucked out of shelfy rut. He made an amazing recovery to finish fourth on the day. Only a matter of time before he's in the podium. Dylan was our only other finisher moving into the top-15 from outside the 30. Pretty amazing job. The rest of the crew was hammering, but just couldn't put two together. Yesterday's giant slalom was also a challenge. For a downhill event, GS has been an uphill battle. We're excited to get home and host Western Regional NCAA champs next week. It'll be exciting for sure."
Alaska Anchorage finished fourth out of nine teams with 452.5 points.
Sara Rask of Denver won the women's race (1:20.82), and Filip Wahlqvist of Colorado won the women's (1:21.30).
Alaska Anchorage will compete in the Nanook Invite Feb. 16-17.
