California JC star chooses Seawolves

ANCHORAGE (June 13) – The Alaska Anchorage men's basketball team has secured another commitment from one of the top junior college talents on the West Coast as head coach Rusty Osborne announced Friday that Elijah Mobley has signed a scholarship agreement with the Seawolves.

A 6-1, 190-pound guard, Mobley played his first two collegiate seasons at Las Positas College in Livermore, Calif., where he racked up 1,022 points in 60 games, along with averages of 4.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 steals. He was named first-team all-league both seasons, finishing as the Coast-North Conference's second-leading scorer in 2024-25 with 19.3 points per game. He tallied double figures in all but two contests for the Hawks last year, helping them finish 26-5 and win the 3C2A NorCal Regional title. The Chicago native made a league-high 152 free throws on .724 shooting, along with .514 shooting from the floor, scoring 25-plus on seven occasions. As a freshman, he averaged 14.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists, scoring double figures 15 times.

"We are excited that Elijah has decided to join our program," said Osborne, who begins his 21st season at the helm this fall. "He is a very good athlete and can really attack in transition. He has a true scorer's mentality without being selfish. Although not a huge three-point threat, he gives us a different dimension with his ability to attack the basket to score or get fouled. We also feel he has the desire and ability to be very good on the defensive end in our system. We needed to become less one-dimensional offensively, and Elijah adds that. He will complement some of our other pieces very well. He plays hard, and I think our fans are going to enjoy watching him compete."

Mobley grew up splitting time between Chicago and Stockton, Calif., where he starred at Weston Ranch High School, winning Valley Oak League MVP honors as a junior. As a senior in 2022-23, he led his team to the Sac-Joaquin Section Div. I quarterfinals with 19 points per game, boosted by a school-record 52-point performance against Linden High.

Mobley becomes the fifth member of UAA's 2025 recruiting class, alongside fellow transfers Cole Johnson (6-1/180, G, Kaysville, Utah/Farmington HS/Colorado Northwestern CC), Akok Machar (6-7/180, G, Adelaide, Australia/Texas-Tyler) and Sylas Williams (6-7/210, F, Bothell, Wash./Jackson HS/Skagit Valley College), and incoming freshman Marek Hajdukovich (6-2/185, G, Anchorage/Dimond HS).
