TUCSON, ARIZ. – Cullen Potter scored a hat-trick for Arizona State to lead the Sun Devils to a 7-2 win over Alaska Anchorage in the Desert Hockey Classic Friday.
Karter McNarland tallied his team-leading ninth-point of the season when he scored the first goal of the game on the power play 53-seconds into the first period. Joey Potter and Conor Cole collected assists.
The Sun Devils answered with six straight goals, two in each period, to take a 6-1 lead.
Tye Spencer scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season for the Seawolves at 15:41 of the third period. Aaron Reierson, who was playing in his first game for the Seawolves, and Adam Parsons assisted on the goal.
Cullen Potter completed the hat trick with his third goal of the game in the final minute.
UAA was out-shot 43-24. UAA was 1-for-4 on the powerplay and held ASU scoreless on their lone power-play opportunity.
Tyler Krivtsov finished with 36 saves for UAA.
Alaska Anchorage will face Michigan Tech Saturday.
