Timm, Proffit ninth at Nevada Invite

RENO, NEV. – University of Alaska Anchorage skiers Ainsley Proffit and Dylan Timm both finished ninth in the slalom at the Nevada Invite Sunday.

Ainsley Proffit ripped the second-fastest second run to finish in a two-run combined time of 1:46.55.

Dylan Timm also used a strong second run, fourth-fastest of the field, to finish in a time of 1:40.48.

"From a team scoring lens, today was a brutal low point," said head coach Sparky Anderson. "On the flip side, our kids are skiing at a very high level. But skiing at a high level and executing on race day at a high level are two different things. And that's where we need to improve. Big kudos to Ainsley who attacked from the back and finished top-ten. Also skiing great right now is Dylan. He's matching the top guys in slalom and very close to taking shots at the podium. The rest of our group is competitive and there's still a lot of runway left in terms of our season. So we'll continue to put the work in, focus on race day execution, and take our shots. We've certainly had our opportunities, we just haven't cashed in on them yet. Giant slalom tomorrow."

Giorgio Baldo finished 16th (1:42.66) in the men's race, and Olivia Carrier tied for 21st (1:48.66) in the women's race.

Utah won both races with Johs Herland taking the men's race (1:37.97), and Melanie Dahlberg winning the women's (1:44.28).

UAA is currently eighth of eight teams with 70.5 points.

Alaska Anchorage will compete in the giant slalom races at the RMISA Qualifier Monday.
