ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – The University of Alaska Fairbanks won this year's Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup with a 6-2 win Saturday.
The Nanooks leads this year's series 14-4 as the series heads to Fairbanks for the final two games Feb. 27-28.
Chase Dafoe and Braden Birnie scored at 3:55 and 8:01 to give the Nanooks a 2-0 first period lead.
The Seawolves responded with a pair of goals in the second period.
Tanyon Bajzer buried a loose puck in front of the goal for his first career goal at 1:41.
Dimitry Kebreau scored his second goal of the season moments after a Seawolf powerplay expired at 5:18.
Chase Dafoe netted his second goal of the game when he fired a long shot through traffic past UAA goalie Tyler Krivtsov at 2:11 of the third.
UAF extended its lead to 4-2 90 seconds later with a top-shelf goal by Alexander Malinowski.
The Nanooks scored an empty-net goal by Davis Borozinskis at 17:34.
Alexander Malinowski scored his second goal of the game for UAF with 22 seconds remaining.
Fairbanks outshot Anchorage 29-14. UAA was 0-for-3 on the powerplay and UAF was 1-for-2.
Tyler Krivtsov finished with 22 saves for the Seawolves.
