All-American honors for Bromee

PARK CITY, UTAH – Ella Bromee collected her fifth career All-American honor with a sixth-place finish in the slalom at the NCAA Skiing Championships Saturday.

The native of Ostanskar, Sweden finished in a time of 1:33.71.

"Another big day for Ella," said head coach Sparky Anderson "Slalom is always a wildcard, and no wilder venue than Utah Olympic Park's relentlessly steep white knuckle ride. Starting 15th, she did enough to keep herself in the mix for a shot at the podium second run. Conditions first run were ok, but the warm air and sun softened the race surface to a pealy dished out shelf. Running late in the flip, Ella put down a very solid run in super tough conditions to move from eighth to sixth. Another All-American result and just a fantastic way to finish off a brilliant NCAA ski racing career. So happy for her. Ainsley, running a bit farther back in 26th had to attack for a shot at the points. Unfortunately, she got hung up into a combo and didn't finish. That's ski racing.

"We're going to miss our senior women. We scored enough points to keep us in the hunt for a top-10 finish this year. So excited about our Nordic group, and what they did yesterday. Tomorrow will be exciting to watch."

Alaska Anchorage is currently eighth out of 22 teams with 156 points.

Justine Lamontagne of Montana State won with a time of 1:33.71.

The NCAA Championships conclude with the 20-kilometer freestyle Saturday.
