MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. – Aiden Westin scored twice for Alaska Anchorage in a 4-3 overtime loss to Long Island in the semi-finals of the United Collegiate Hockey Cup Friday.
Westin opened the scoring in the game with a power-play goal halfway through the second period thanks to assists from Tye Spencer and Dimitry Kebreau.
The Sharks scored three straight goals, including two goals by Noah Serdachny, to take a 3-1 lead early in the third period.
The Seawolves battled back with Tye Spencer collecting his second point of the game with a power-play goal at 9:04 of the third period with an assist from goalie Bryant Marks.
Aiden Westin tied the game at 3-3 with his second goal of the game at 12:07. Karter McNarland earned his team-leading 17th assist of the season, and Nolan Gagnon picked up his third assist of the season.
Isaac Lambert scored the game-winning goal with 49 seconds remaining in overtime for Long Island.
Alaska Anchorage out-shot Long Island 40-22.
The Seawolves finished 2-for-5 on the powerplay, and the Sharks were 1-for-1.
Bryant Marks finished with 18 saves for UAA.
The game was the final game for four seniors, Logan Acheson (102 GP, 4-15-19), Conor Cole (92 GP, 8-24-32), Luke Johnson (82 GP, 6-6-12) and Brandon Lajoie (40 GP, 4-7-11).
Alaska Anchorage finishes the season with a 5-27-1 record.
