Seawolves sign D-I transfer Kuykendall

ANCHORAGE (June 22) – Alaska Anchorage men's basketball coach Cameron Turner has added another NCAA Div. I transfer to the Seawolves' roster, announcing Monday that Will Kuykendall has signed a scholarship agreement.

A 6-2, 185-pound guard, Kuykendall spent his first three collegiate seasons in perhaps college basketball's best league, playing in the Big 12 Conference at both Arizona and Baylor. The Santa Maria, Calif., native redshirted as a true freshman at Arizona in 2023-24 and played in three games for the Wildcats the next year. He contributed in nine games at Baylor in 2025-26, cracking the scoring column five times, including six points (2-2 3FG) in a win over Southern and four points (1-1 FG, 2-2 FT) in a win over Sacramento State.

"Will is an elite team player who's going to bring a wealth of knowledge to our program," Turner said. "He understands the daily habits, discipline and commitment required to play at the highest level, and that perspective will elevate everyone around him. What stood out throughout the recruiting process was how intentional he was about becoming a Seawolf. He had multiple D-I offers and D-II offers closer to home, but he chose Alaska Anchorage because he believes in our vision and culture. That says a lot about his character and his willingness to embrace a challenge."

As a prep standout, Kuykendall played at powerhouse program St. Joseph High School, helping his team to a 28-7 record and CIS CS Div. I and Open Division NorCal titles as a senior in 2023. His experience also included a trip to the Last Frontier, where he scored 18 points during St. Joseph's three-game run to the Alaska Airlines Classic title that season.

"Will already has a unique connection to our state, having competed here a few years ago," Turner added. "He has experienced Alaska in the winter and understands what makes it special to live here. He also has relatives in Alaska, which has given him an even greater appreciation for the people and communities. We are excited to welcome him to the Seawolf family."

Kuykendall is the seventh player to sign since Turner assumed coaching duties this spring, joining Quincy Byas (6-8/185, G/F, Portland, Ore./Rosemary Anderson Prep/Eastern Arizona), Karim Elgizawy (6-3/200, G, Cairo, Egypt/Laramie County [Wyo.] CC), Mack Keighran (6-2/180, G, Melbourne, Australia/Chadron State), Joseph Mayberry (6-5/190, G, Lancaster, Texas/LHS/McLennan CC), Walker Timme (6-7/225, F, Richardson, Texas/Pearce HS/Southern Idaho/Northern Arizona) and Tarrance Warren (6-2/175, G, Dallas, Texas/Sam Houston HS/Eastern Arizona/Barry U.).
