Biography

2000-01: Completed one of the finest individual seasons in UAA basketball history, averaging 21.7 ppg, 5.9 apg and 4.1 rpg on his way to Daktronics Third Team All-America, All-West Region and Pacific West Conference Player of the Year honors...became only the second player in the history of the Pac West Conference to leading the league in scoring average and assists...twice earned conference Player of the Week awards...during UAA’s six-game winning streak (Feb. 10-24), he has averaged 7.8 apg and 22.5 ppg, including two 25-point and two 10-assist performances...he ranked 16th in scoring among NCAA Div. II players as UAA finished the regular season ranked third in the country in points per game (91.8)...in conference play, increased his numbers to 22.4 ppg on 51.9 percent shooting with 4.6 rpg...against MSU-Billings (Feb. 17, 22 pts/10 assists) and Western New Mexico (Feb. 19, 25 pts/10 assists), Kirk posted back-to-back double-doubles...he finished his career with a 39-game double-digit scoring streak...on UAA’s Hawaii trip, he averaged 22.3 ppg and shot 57 percent on two-point attempts...had team’s highest scoring outputs (32 at UNLV and MSU-Billings) as well as the top assist mark with a career-best 10 three times...his 32 at UNLV was the first 30-point showing for a Seawolf since Jim Hajdukovich scored 30 at UAF on Feb. 19, 1999...in 12 career games against Division I opponents, Kirk recorded averages of 20.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.4 steals, while leading UAA to wins over Notre Dame, SMU, Rhode Island and Grambling State...he was named to the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout All-Tournament Team for the second year in a row...the 2000-01 season was Kirk’s third as a Seawolf but his first full season (see below).

1999-00: Was enjoying an all-star season before being sidelined by a broken jaw against Adams State in the sixth game of the season...received hardship medical redshirt...became first Seawolf since Jason Kaiser in 1994 to lead the Great Alaska Shootout in scoring...went 20-for-20 from the free throw line and tallied 63 points in the Shootout, earning all-tournament honors...scored 21 points on 6-of-11 shooting and dished six assists in UAA's 104-85 win over Division I Grambling State...earned Most Outstanding Player honors in UAA's AT&T Alascom Jamboree...named second team preseason All-American by Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook.

1998-99: Started UAA's first 14 games before being ruled academically ineligible...Seawolves' leading scorer and 10th in the Pac West at 17.0 ppg...led the team with 4.2 assists per game...named Most Outstanding Player at the AT&T Alascom Jamboree...selected to all-tournament team at ASU Fiesta Bowl Classic after helping UAA upset Division I Southern Methodist and scoring a career-high 28 points in title-game loss to Arizona State.

BEFORE UAA: Transferred from Midland (Texas) College, where he played two seasons...averaged 11 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals for the Chaparrals...helped Midland to the Western Junior College Conference title with a 26-4 record and a top-10 national ranking...honorable mention all-conference and an Adidas honorable mention All-American...team's defensive player of the year.

HIGH SCHOOL: Received three varsity letters in basketball at Bryan Adams...three-time all-district, including twice on first team...named fifth-team all-state as a senior after averaging 23 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals...teammate of 2000 NBA No. 1 draft pick Kenyon Martin...contributed 24 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals per contest as a junior...three-year team captain...twice voted squad's offensive player of the year...helped team to state playoffs for two straight years...city zone and Jesuit Prep Tournament champions.

PERSONAL: Born Edward Delarence Kirk on May 22, 1978 in Dallas, Texas...son of Edward Sr. and Peney Kirk...nickname is "Prep"...history major.
