Prior to UAA: Mitchell tallied 120 points (54-66) in 198 games during his four-year career in the BCHL. He started his career with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks scoring 22 points (10-12) in 57 games in 2015-16 and 28 points (10-18) in 50 games in 2016-17. He started the 2017-18 season with the Silverbacks recording 12 points in 19 games before finishing the season with the Penticton Vees tallying 10 points (4-6) in 24 games. He averaged a point a game with the Nanaimo Clippers scoring 48 points (22-26) in 48 games and served as captain with the Clippers.
